3RD PLACE GAME
ALL IOWA ATTACK 83, IOWA LADY GATORS 62

Attack had to come back right away from their disappointing loss to Iowa Elite and they erupted for 27 points in the first quarter draining seven 3s including five by Jamie Elbert.

Elbert opened her barage with a trey from the right corner on the first Attack possession. Attack scored on 6 of their first 7 possessions and led 16-2 at that juncture. Elbert had three 3s at this point. The Gators got their 3 game revved up too thanks to three 3s by Kami Kuhlmann, but the damage had been done. The Gators connected on four straight possessions with Kuhlmann delivering the last three including two 3s from the left side. She had 8 points in the 10-6 spurt. Attack was on pace for a 158.8 pp100 after this quarter. Attack led 27-19 at the break.

Attack scored on four straight possessions in the second quarter with Chelsea Poppens popping in five straight. Attack stretched the lead to 36-25 when the Gators made their move. They scored seven unanswered points to cut the margin to 36-32. Attack was not attacking with six straight non scoring possessions. At this point Stacy Schutjer was hot and hand five straight points for the Gators. Again the score was four points, but Katelyn Sunde scored at the buzzer to push the lead back up for the Attack 42-36.

Ally Jensen scored the first five points for the Attack to open the second half. She hit a three for starters and then nailed two free throws after being fouled. The game hung around a ten point margin until late in the quarter Attack scored on 4/5 possessions to go into the final frame up 64-48.

That hot streak continued on into the fourth for the Attack as they scored on their first five possessions to go up 75-51. Zimmerman, who had been out due to fouls, came out in full force with six straight points in the 11-3 run. The game didn't have any more drama as Attack won 83-62. The official score was 82-63, but my scoring shows Attack with one more, and the Gators with one less.

BY THE NUMBERS
All Iowa Attack 83, 67, 123.9, .522

made 3s: Attack 13, Gators 7
made fts; Attack 8, Gators 5
bench: Attack 30, Gators 4
The contributions of Elbert and Sunde were definitely welcomed. They will need to be threats from here on out to take pressure off Jensen. The post players need to play without picking up useless fouls and sitting down. That height does nothing on the bench.
