It was a night of close calls as four of the five games were decided by five points or less.
Minnesota won on a Emily Fox buzzer beater on the road at Northwestern 65-63. St. Paul Central's Ashley Ellis-Milan had a career high 21 for MN. Breck's Melissa Miller was one of three NW players with 14.
Ohio State struggled with Penn State 63-61. Maybe it was the aftereffects of the BCS bowl vs Florida that OSU was so close to PSU.
Purdue bounced Michigan State 70-60. Mpls North's Mia Johnson had 13 for MSU. The Detroit Free Press ripped the MSU defense suggesting a GPS system to find the best shooter.
Iowa rallied to slip by Indiana 71-67. Osseo's Krista Vande Venter had five for Iowa.
Wisconsin rallied to escape Michigan with a 62-59 win. Concordia Roseville's Sarah Ingison played, but did not score for Wisconsin. Also from the Capital Times and Wisconsin State Journal.

MISSOURI VALLEY
Evansville ruined Northern Iowa's eight game winning streak with a 56-54 heartbreaker. Robyn Jennings hit a 3 for Evansville to end the dream. From the Des Moines Register too.
Illinois State harvested Wichita State 87-73. Mpls North's Daria Frazier had 6 for WSU.
Southern Illinois slapped Bradley 64-40. Waconia's Jenny Van Kirk played but did not score for Bradley.
HORIZON
Detroit edged Cleveland State 64-61. Benilde-St. Margaret's Chanica Hall played and did not score for Detroit.
Illinois Chicago burned Butler 70-64. Eastview's Cassie Johnson started and had 9 for UIC. Holy Angels' Jessie Miller also started and had four points.
OTHERS
Utah pounded Colorado State 73-57. Breck's Emily Neal started and ended up with six points; Kelly Finley, also of Breck had three for CSU. Utah's coach Elaine Elliott won her 500th game.
In the battle of Montana it was Montana over Montana State 86-67. Breck's Alyssa Nelson had 9 points for Montana State.
St. Mary's CA ransacked Portland 74-52. Plainview's Anne Graner started, but did not score for Portland.

NORTH CENTRAL
Augustana dodged UM Duluth 57-56. Willmar's Alison Adamson hit the game winner for Augie, but only had 3 points on the night. West Central, SD's Amy Puthoff had 20 to lead Augustana. Morris' Katie Winkleman had 23 for UMD.
St. Cloud State picked up their first conference win 76-68 over MSU Mankato. Duluth East's Erika Quigley ripped it up for 29 for SCSU.
OTHERS
Grand Valley State beat Lake Superior State 84-67. It was LSS's first conference loss.
FEATURE
Bemidji State's Stephanie Peterson has a feature in the Bismarck Tribune. Peterson played her HS ball at Century and returns to face U of Mary.

LATE
Rock Valley's Deb Remmerde of Northwestern IA blazed away for 45 points in a 83-74 win over Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday. Remmerde set a new school record. From the Sioux City Journal.
