MINNEAPOLIS used to be mauraders 62,
RIDGEWATER warriors 55

Minneapolis continued their winning ways at home on Wednesday in MN CC South conference play. It has been three straight home Wednesday wins for the ex mauraders.

Charmine Cross came to play today for Minneapolis. She started the game with 7 of the first 9 Mpls points. Her first four points were on put backs. Mpls led 9-2 after a Cross 3, the only one Mpls canned all night. Mpls extended that lead to 22-8. Then Ridgewater rolled off five of six scoring possessions and cut the margin to 24-20 after a 12-2 run in about 2:30 of clock time. Kayla Karnes delivered two 3s in the stretch. With the run Ridgewater was back in the contest. Neither team got too far past each other and Mpls led at half 34-29.

Cross, again, was on fire for Mpls to start the half. She scored the first 8 points for Mpls. They needed each and every one as Ridgewater closed the gap to 40-38 on Amy Ballard's runner and one. Mpls went on a 9-2 run to pushe the lead back to 49-40. Ridgewater was stuck in a 1/10 offensive sequence. And like a see saw, Ridgewater had their own 9-2 run as Ridgewater closed to 51-49 with 3:44 to go after Melissa Sterkel made one of two free throws. The one-two punch of Cross and Britany Johnson then went on a 4/5 offensive sequence and 7-0 run. It culminated on a technical foul on Karnes and Cross making one of the free throws. Both teams finished the game without gaining or losing ground.

BY THE NUMBERS
Minneapolis 62, 74, 83.8, .419
Ridgewater 55, 74, 74.3, .351
made 3s: Ridgewater 4, Minneapolis 1
made fts: Ridgewater 11, Minneapolis 5
Bench: Ridgewater 7, Minneapolis 4
Mpls and Ridgewater used zones primarily. Ridgewater tried to press full court, but Mpls was able to meet that challenge. Ridgewater was able to get the Mpls defense to shift to the strong side, but the guards didn't drop down and on the weakside block Ridgewater feasted.
This is the 3rd time watching JUCO, and this was the most competitive contest. However the pp100s for Mpls have declined each game. That may be due to the lack of a lot of transition in the last few games. It may be because Ridgewater handles the ball better, and also the Mpls bench is thinner and they weren't looking to go on all chances.
