However they were only able to score twice on Bri Zabel 3s to make it 19-9. Bri Zabel had 10 points in the second half. Hastings' 6-8 center Catherine Hintz, who came off the bench, had 12 first half points, half of which were on second chance points, half from traditional post ups. Northfield led 26-19 at halftime.

Hastings started the second half with a 14-5 run to knot it all up at 31. Abby Wagner and Hintz each had four points in the run. Hintz tied it at 31 on a post up on the left block. After that Northfield scored their next three possessions to to up 37-31. Northfield did put it up 16-6 run to push the lead back to 47-37. It was a scoring string of 9 of 10 possessions with Bri Zabel providing 8 of the 16 points. Hastings had one last push with a 8-2 run as Wagner scored all 8 of the Hastings points, six of which were cashed in at the line. Northfield led 51-47 with 3:19 to go. However Hastings was not able to find the bottom of the basket the rest of the game as Northfield finished with an 8-0 run, and Hastings finished with a 0/7 drought, all of which were missed shots.

Bri Zabel was the driving force that provided the difference tonight. She had 5 steals and 10 defensive rebounds to start possessions for Northfield. The Northfield team had strong possessions and, for most of the evening, would take good quality shots after working both sides of the floor. Northfield had some decent athletes that could jump.
Hastings didn't get the ball in to Hintz when she posted. She is more effective at the low block, not as effective at the high post or 3 point line. Part of it may have been the Northfield defense, but part of it was a lack of awareness by the guards, or another reason. When they were down four and had the ball they never got her a touch in the half court.
