If it is Wednesday it means it is another JUCO game.
Once upon a time there were at least five other community colleges in the Twin City metro area that played basketball, but now there are only two: Minneapolis and Anoka-Ramsey, and only Minneapolis has games scheduled on Wednesdays.

To set the background on this game FF had only six bodies in uniform. They were missing their top scorer Brittany Quistoff who was on crutches. Minneapolis had one extra player.

Both teams came out firing from long distance with Jessica Garrett and Amy Langefeld scoring for FF and Mpls. FF didn't connect again for 8 possessions, Mpls added 9 to their total to make it 12-3. Britany Johnson delivered 7 of those points. But even Mpls wasn't clicking on high efficiency as they stalled out at a 1/7 offensive sequence. But right away they converted five straight possessions and led 29-15. Johnson again led with six points in the 13-3 run. Mpls only scored four points in the last 9 minutes of the half. FF had 8, but still trailed 33-23 at half.

The game was in the coast mode with neither team having the legs to go full bore. The sense of urgency seemed far away. The game had the feel of a pick up summer game. Mpls would go hard enough to keep the margin comfortable. FF did start the second half with a 9-4 run to close to 37-32. Mpls quickly built that lead back up to a 17 point margin on a 19-9 run. Mpls did have seven straight scoring possessions with Johnson, once again, getting 5 points and Lakita Davis also chipping in with 5 in the run. In the last seven minutes Mpls scored 7 points, while FF closed with a flourish with 15 points, including the last four possessions. But the game really never was in doubt.

Britany Johnson 28, 25, 112.0, .480 point guard, major talent. sister Mia is at Michigan State, one of the better shooters around. nailed four 3s. has good footwork. can also pass, had an oooh-aah behind the neck pass that had everyone looking the other way. also had a basket with a catch and shot in midair. RF: when she did have turnovers it was either because it was done softly, or an easier pass could have been made and Johnson was going with spectacular. Her teammates need to be ready also.
