COACHING OPENINGS
USA NATIONAL 20u
The 20U National team trounced Puerto Rico 97-57 in the FIBA Americas opener in Mexico City. Jolene Anderson, Wisconsin, South Shore HS, had 16 in the victory. They then had no mercy on the neighbors to the north in a 90-39 win over Canada. Anderson had 10 in this debacle. More from the USA site. Here is the FIBA Americas tournament site where you can find out more on the other teams.
ROLE PLAYERS AND WINNING
Here is more from the Wages of Wins blog on Role players and there importance in winning. The game they focus on is the USA/Brazil men's game with a reserve from Cleveland, Anderson Varajeo coming up with 16 rebounds for Brazil. Do you want to pick only scorers on your team like Team USA? Check out the links in this article. True Hoop chimes in on this issue.
TEAM CHEMISTRY
Here is another blog entry from the Wages of Wins. This deals with the NY Knicks and chemistry. The problem was NY had too many scorers and not enough players to do the dirty, less glamourous work. Speaking from experience on this one Osseo '97 had too many scorers on the team and had a less than successful conclusion. However the Osseo 2000 squad had solid role players and a couple of good scorers. This team was state champion and had great chemistry. Remember folks you only get one ball when you play.
