20U CHAMPIONS
The 20u American national team obliterated the Bahamas on Friday 114-23. Jolene Anderson , Wisconsin, had 12 points in the victory. And in what was supposed to be the big test against Brazil the 20u team passed with flying colors 96-54. Anderson led all scorers with 17 in this contest. UW Milwaukee has finished out their coaching staff. They recently hired Travis Brewster, former assistant at North Dakota, and Sheila Roux, former head coach at UM Crookston, as assistants, and Lindsay Bronson as video coordinator.

Nick Greenwood has been hired at Newberry. Greenwood is a 1998 graduate from Newberry. He graduated from Lake Superior State for college. Here is the Marquette Mining Journal with more.
John Green is taking over at Saugatuck. He replaces Kevin Chipman, only girls coach Saugatuck has had. Green and the team are analyzed in the article in the Grand Rapids Press.

Sarah Thomasma, Sturgis '06 will be attending Kalamazoo this fall. The 6-0 center was deciding between Kalamazoo and Hope. Here is more about the decision in the Sturgis Journal

GAZETTE'S ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
The Cedar Rapids Gazette has named its Athlete of the Year and it is Sara Clancy. Clancy played basketball at CR Xavier. Their team won the state title her junior year. She will be attending Minnesota as a soccer player.
TO CUT OR NOT TO CUT
Here is a story about cutting policies in the schools around Des Moines. Southeast Polk recently decided to let coaches make cuts. If a kid isn't playing, they are cut, but they don't know it. Their practice time to game time ratio is close to zero. Here is the Des Moines Register's article.
