QUARTERFINAL
ALL IOWA ATTACK 71, ANKENY hawkettes 46

All Iowa Attack broke free from a 31 tie early in the second half to outscore Ankeny 40-15 on their way to a quarterfinal win.

AIA started off up 5-0. Ankeny had problems out of the gate with a 7 possession drought. AIA was 4/5 at one stretch in the first quarter. AIA led 15-10 at the end of one quarter thanks to five points on second chances.

Ankeny outscored AIA 17-12 in the second quarter on the strength of perimeter shooting. Lindsey Schlagel struck for one of her treys while Danielle Lang was in rhthym with her catch and shoot game from the corners. All of their points came off assists. Augustine scored 7 straight points for Ankeny late in the quarter. She gave Ankeny their first lead at 20-19. The biggest lead Ankeny had was two points, the last coming at 27-25. Katelyn Sunde tied it on a drive as the half ended all tied at 27. That basket also was the 7th straight score by either team as the offenses were clicking.

That clicking was still on at the start of the third quarter with four straight scores. Ally Jensen started it off for AIA with a three. Lang scored twice in a row for Ankeny again from the corners and off a catch and shoot situation. That tied the game at 31. Then Ankeny went into a 7 possession drought. AIA was up 40-31 on a 9-0 run before they could respond. Jensen had five of the points on another 3 and a steal and lay up. AIA had a 5/6 offensive sequence part of an 8/10 effort late in the half. During this key stretch AIA outscored Ankeny 17-4. Sunde again ended the quarter with a drive and score. AIA had 25 points in the quarter, almost matching their entire output for the first half. AIA led 52-35 at teh break.

There really was no serious threat to the AIA lead as Ankeny started the 4th quarter 1/7 on their possessions. AIA scored on six straight possessions on a 12-5 burst. Zimmerman and Schechinger combined for 8 of those points. In due course AIA won 71-46.

The AIA squad is bigger and more powerful with four 6-2 players with bulk inside. Clapper was feeling the pain any time in the lane.

The key 3rd quarter saw AIA's pp100 at 138.9 and floor % at .667; Ankeny on the other hand was at 47.1, pp100 and .235 floor % as Lang was not able to shake free after the first two baskets in the third quarter.
