TOTINO-GRACE eagles 46, MAHTOMEDI zephyrs 20

Totino-Grace's suffocating defense slammed the door on any easy Mahtomedi looks and TG went on to an important 6AAA victory. TG's defense limited Mahtomedi to 33.3 pp100 and a floor % of .167 both the second lowest in the time I have charted this season.

Mahtomedi scored on their first possession, and then the door was slammed shut for the next 14. Half were missed shots, half turnovers. TG took advantage of this lack of scoring and had a 9-0 run. Every shot, every pass was contested by TG. They played their 1/2/2 zone and doubled the ball high. Mahtomedi's ball handlers didn't enjoy the heat. Passes were too far away and were snatched. It was 21-10 TG at half.

It was more of the same in the second half. Mahtomedi had a drought of 10 in the middle of the second half and TG ran off 14 points for a 41-12 lead. The only offensive clicking was done by TG early in the half as they were 7/9 in their possessions. TG eventually stretched the lead to 44-14 when they started to empty the bench. TG had their own drought at this point with 9 unproductive possessions.

TRENCH PLAYER
This was a tough call because all TG players were active and hustling, and laying it on the line. But I don't name a pair or unit, so after careful consideration it goes to Veronica Scott.

BY THE NUMBERS
Totino-Grace 46, 59, 78.0, .390
Mahtomedi 20, 60, 33.3, .167
made 3s: Totino-Grace 3, Mahtomedi 0
made FTs: Totino-Grace 9, Mahtomedi 4
Bench: Totino-Grace 12, Mahtomedi 7
Both defenses played well and didn't allow too many easy looks. But TG had stronger athletes on the floor, and moved the ball with zip and pop. If we take away the tail end of the game last 12 possessions for TG their pp100 was 93.6, and floor % .468, much more impressive.
