SPRING FLING SHOOTOUT
UW LaCrosse Rec Center
Gold Championship
TEAM WI SELECT 15s 58, VIKING CLUB HURRICANES 33
Five players had more than 9 points as Team WI Select used that depth and balance to tame the Hurricanes 58-33. TWS15 raced to an 11-1 lead. The size, speed and quickness helped TWS15 to that margin. Plus a solid transition game and crashing the offensive boards. Four of the first 11 points were on transition, while 2 came on second chancers. TWS15s found gold at the end of the rainbow with three 3s in the first half. The Hurricanes also struck gold three times behind the arc, but scoring inside was not as easy with the taller TWS team patrolling the middle. It was 31-22 at the end of the half. TWS scored the last five times they had possession in the first half.
The worst offensive sequence all game for TWS was a four possession drought to start the second half. More often than not it was the scoring string that was added up. The transition game was kicked into high gear in the second half with 11 points. The best offensive sequence came in the second half as TWS scored six straight possessions. Meanwhile the Hurricanes had droughts of six twice in the second half.
I don't have a clear roster on the Hurricanes, but my best guess is most, if not all the players, are from Hayward, Wisconsin.
