DECISIONS
Courtney Thingstad of Velva, North Dakota is headed to the University of North Dakota.
Jamie Njos of Williston is staying close to home. She is headed to Williston State College. The all conference guard averaged 17.7 ppg this year.
Both are featured in the Minot Daily News.
Thingstad and Njos are the 15th and 16th overall North Dakota players in the 2008 class to make a decision about college. Thingstad will be the 2nd ND player headed to a D1 school. Njos is the 2nd known player headed to a Community College.
CAPTAINS
Emily Fox, Ashley Ellis-Milan and Brittany McCoy have been named captains for the 2008-09 Gopher team.
HONORED
Marquette, the WNIT champion, was honored at Milwaukee City Hall yesterday.
AWARDS
Kirkwood’s Lauren Thomas-Johnson and Breann Hill earned first-team honors for the women’s basketball team. Thomas-Johnson and Hill, who will play at Marquette next year, led the Eagle women to the national title and a 31-6 record
COACHING NEWS
Jon Newlee is leaving the head job at Idaho State for the head job at Idaho.
Jennifer Mountain has been hired as women's basketball coach at Santa Clara. Mountain was an assistant at Gonzaga.
Colorado State has hired Jenn Bradley as their new assistant coach. Bradley was an assistant at Santa Clara.
