SEASONS CHANGE
The appeal to the change of seasons was denied by the Supreme Court and so the girls season now will move to the winter like 48 other states. The Grand Rapids Press has background on the court case history.
The Grand Rapids Press has the stories of ND, SD and Montana and their switches in the 2002-03 year.
GRP columnist Gretchen Flemming says that families will adjust.
The MHSAA will comply, but they still feel their system was just & right.
There are a few schools that had the same head coach for both boys and girls. That will need to change now. Unity Christian coach Scott Soodsma who led the girls to the B championship and the boys to the State quarters will be making a choice.
Athletic Directors will have a lot of juggling to do with gym time, plus other season switches not only basketball/volleyball.

Mick McCabe of the Detroit Free Press feels that the switch is a shame.
Brittany McGinnis of Fraser has already made a verbal to Ball State in Volleyball, but may have to give up the basketball to keep up with the JO club volleyball schedule. Again from the Detroit Free Press.

Thanks for the tips readers.

Next up: parade of states, college report and the first game I saw from the Iowa AAU State tournament: the quarterfinal between All Iowa Attack vs Ankeny.
