MULTIPLIERS & TRANSFERS
Indiana has rejected a plan to use a multiplier in placing schools for their state tournament playoffs. Illinois has used such a plan, a debate is under way in Wisconsin. Here is the AP story from the St. Paul Pioneer Press http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/sports/14473797.htm
Here is what is happening in Wisconsin on the private/public debate along with transfer students. This article is from the Wisconsin State Journal in Madison http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/column/index.php?ntid=82295&ntpid=2 even more from the Green Bay Press Gazette http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060502/GPG0205/605020430/1238/GPGsports

I like a one class system, but that won't be happening. There are more factors to dividing schools up based on enrollment. My studies in the past have indicated a strong tendancy for schools with low free and reduced lunch to outperform (in girls basketball) those schools with a higher free and reduced lunch population. No matter what system you have, the loudest complainers will be the ones on the low end of the cut off line. More on this later.

Next up: I will be putting up a link again tonight with coaching openings. This link will have all the openings that I know about. If I don't know about an opening, send me an email. Last night the link was on the numbers that I used during the season--where they came from and what they mean. You can check it out in my links--about a mile down on the right side. If you have other ideas for links let me know.

The next posting with new news will be tomorrow afternoon.
