Today I traveled to Forest Lake and watched six games in the MN State AAU tournament. It was primarily quarterfinals and one semifinal. For the most part what was expected is what happened with only a few upsets. The games highlighted in Red are the games I saw and will report on with out & abouts starting with the 16s.
I am still waiting for the first AAU team to come up with a 100 pp100 game.
I was pretty disappointed in the level of play at the 15s. I was expecting a better performance.
Free throw shooting through out the day was quite abysmal at all levels.
At the 16s play was much sharper than it was two weeks ago. It would probably be much sharper, but teams are carrying too many players, or using too many players. The rhythm of the game is disrupted when players are subbed out just to let others in. If the best would play exclusively, like in HS, the games would be better executed and players would get into the groove. As for the youngsters, it was the first time I have watched them and I don't have a benchmark for them.
