Efficiency, Lynx & Showcases

PACE OF THE GAME
Here are the comparisions for AAU/HS pace and efficiency
Division, ppg, possessions, pp100, floor %
AAU 47.3, 63.6, 74.38, .370
HS 54.7, 65.8, 83.1, .403
HS games are better run because they have more practice time. AAU has better athletes/players but they are not as efficient.
Here is the AAU age breakdown. Keep in mind I have not spent much time watching the 15s or 14s.

NUMBERS EXPLAINED

age, # of teams, points, possessions, pp100, floor %
16s, 23, 48.5, 63.7, 76.2, .371
15s, 9, 45.7, 63.3, 72.3, .374
14s 6, 45.8, 64.3, 71.2, .355
As you can see there is not much variation in possessions with the 14s actually having the fastest paced games. This is probably due to rapid turnovers. The efficiency does indicate the older divisions are stronger. That is probably due to the fact more players have had some HS seasoning.

A LOOK AT THE LYNX/SUNS GAME
Here is last night's season opener with Connecticut
name, points, possessions, pp100, floor %
MINNESOTA LYNX
STARTERS
Amber Jacobs 9, 10, 90.0, .400
Simone Augustus 21, 16, 131.2, .625
Nicole Ohlde 10, 7, 142.9, .714
Krista Mann, 7, 8, 87.5, .375
Vanessa Hayden, 6, 12, 50.0, .250
BENCH
Svetlana Abrismova 7, 7, 100.0, .429

Tamika Williams 6, 4, 150.0, .750
Megan Duffy 2, 2, 100.0, .500
Shona Thorburn 0, 2, 0.0, .000
Defensively I tried to chart the game, I still have to digest the scratches. My preliminary indication is that Jacobs was responsible for 21 points, Mann 17. I still have to re-evaluate and compare with the finished report.
