MN Classes in AAAA are not created equally. Three sections look tough top to bottom....well maybe top to #7. These sections have strong teams and all have reasons to promote for their section:
#6--two undefeated teams, which also were state tournament entrants last year--Bloomington Kennedy (state champ 05) and Mpls South. Throw in Eastview, and there are three teams from the top 10 in the latest polls. The section has 72 wins, and the offenses average 59.4
#3--feature four teams in the top 10. Their #7 (Henry Sibley) has 9 wins. There will donnybrooks in the quarterfinals. Only the #1 seed (undetermined) will have a cakewalk over St. Paul Harding. The section has 69 wins and the offense average is 55.7
So at this point there are seven of the top 10 teams from these two sections
#1--3 teams with double figure wins at this point. 63 wins, offense 54.1
#7--The C section (Champlin Park, Centennial, Coon Rapids). 58 wins, offense 59.6 (highest scoring section
#2--3 teams with double figure wins. 57 wins, offense 53.7
#8--55 wins, 53.1, but no teams in top 10 now.
#5--the questionable section. 49 wins, 53.4 offense. No team from this section has been in the top 10 all year.
#4--Strong at the top, but weakness creeps up to #4 with only five wins, and it gets worse quickly. 44 wins, and a low of 51.1 for offense.
In AAA the sections are either/or. Either you can compete (usually about 3 teams) or you can't (the rest). There are no teams with winning records past what would be the fifth seed. Section 3 looks to be the toughest with Section 8 and 2 not far behind. Hibbing is the only undefeated team left in AAA.
Toughest in AA at this point bar none is Section 1, but it gets tougher Section 1AA West has Kingsland, Rochester Lourdes, and Pine Island. All are top 10 teams and have a combined record of 43-3. On the east side there are four teams in double digit victories. To give you a clear idea of this Section 2 has two teams with DF wins, Section 3 has one. 1AA has 7.
Section 4, 5, and 6 toughens up a bit. Each has four teams with DF wins. 7 has 3, 8 has 1 at this point. 3 teams are undefeated yet: Kingsland, Barnesville, and MN Valley Lutheran.
Class A is wide open. At this point section 6 has had three teams in the top 10. Sections 4 and 5 each have two. There are only three teams that are undefeated: Osakis, Lakeview, and Nevis.
