Joy Smith has left the Wakefield-Marenisco program. Numbers may be a problem in the future since only thee girls in grades 7-8 showed interest. Smith's teams won a district title in 2004 and Porcupine Mountain championships in 04 and 05. She was Upper Peninsula coach of the year in 04.

GAMES OF NOTE

Amanda Dettman, MN Valley Lutheran hit the second of two free throws with 10 seconds left in overtime. Teammate Cara Hanson stole the ball with time winding down in a 53-52 win over New Ulm Cathedral in a Tomahawk Conference showdown. Hanson also hit her only basket to send the game into overtime. MVL is now 12-0 and #2 in AA.

Appleton East broke a 62 game losing streak with a 52-32 win over Sheboygan South on j3.

INJURY UPDATES
MN
Molly Mathiowetz, Sleepy Eye St. Mary's returned to action j5 in a 65-45 win over cross town rival Sleepy Eye. Mathiowetz, who missed the entire volleyball campaign due to back/disc problems, was given the ok to jog two weeks ago. SESM won Section 2A last March with Mathiowetz averaging 18.2 ppg.
Casey Gifford, RTR has returned to action. She injured her knee (MCL) on D9 when she scored 33 points in a 67-66 loss to Lincoln HI
Annetta Paulson, LeSueur-Henderson has a dislocated finger and will be out a couple of more weeks.

Pearl Wallace, Kickapoo reached the 1000 point mark with a half court buzzer beater at halftime in a 51-31 game with LaFarge. Wallace ended up with 10 for the night.
