Analysis: All Conference part 4

WISCONSIN
The other all conference state we need to look at is Wisconsin. They produced 10, the most in the five states we focused on for 2005. Wisconsin also produced the most AC players in the "Big 7" conferences (like the Big 10, Big 12) with 3, Iowa had 2, Minnesota had 1, the Dakotas 0.
The 2005 class included a name familiar to Gopher fans--Janel McCarville (Stevens Point) Minnesota; Adrienne Norris (Kettle Moraine) Boston U; Rebecca Remington (Iola-Scandinavia) Murray State; Tiffany Mor (Fox Valley Lutheran) UW Green Bay. McCarville's college/HS ratio was .825.
The 2006 class produced four AC players: Mistie Williams (Janesville Parker) Duke; Molly O'Brien (Columbus) UW Milwaukee; Nichole Drummond (Kenosha Tremper) UW Milwaukee; DeSheyna Perry (Beloit Memorial) Robert Morris. Two of these players (Williams, and Perry) played in the Big Eight Conference in HS.
2007: Nichole Soulis (Bay Port) UW Green Bay; and 2008: Jolene Anderson (South Shore) Wisconsin stayed in state. My first year of rating Wisconsin players was Anderson's senior year and I had her #1 with a rating of 79. The 2008 class produced 18 D1 players 4 of which started. Besides Anderson: Patricia Crumble (Mlw Vincent) Jackson State; Elizabeth Biland (Racine Prairie) Southern Mississippi; and Brittney Korth (Clinton) Cleveland State. My ratings had Crumble #17, Since this was my first year the information was not complete as it was for the 2005 class. (I rated only 20 in 04, 30 in 05; 50 in 06). Biland and Korth slipped through due to incomplete information.
Of the ten players five stayed in state, with McCarville not that far away. Looking at the ratio McCarville came in at .825, Bass .661, and Anderson .490. My only guess on this is that guards are going to have a smaller number than posts due to the fact guards score more in HS than they will in college. Anderson averaged over 36 points in HS. She could not replicated that in the Big 10 with bigger and quicker opposition. So for guards .490 may be a strong indicator, while for a post it might not be.

Characteristics of the AC player don't change that much looking across the five states.
State, #rostered, #AC, College class, Height, HS Division (#/# of classes)
IA, 47, 6, 2005.8, 6-2.2, 3.2/4
MN, 69, 3, 2006, 6-0, 3.67/4
ND, 7, 2, 2005.5, 6-0, 1/2
SD, 16, 2, 2005.5, 6-1.5, 2.5/3
WI, 59, 10, 2005.9, 5-11.4, 3/4
AC players in general are seniors or juniors. There was only one in the 08 class that made it a .043 ratio compared to .435 for the 05 class. They are close to 6-0. The smallest was Kieger at 5-6. And the players tend to come from the bigger HS Divisions--the 4As, or 3As. Anderson came from the smallest class in Wisconsin. Both Klabo and Lorenz are from the smallest class in ND.
