Analysis: All Conference part 2

INJURY UPDATE
MN
Casey Gifford, RTR has returned to the line up. She had an MCL injury in a 33 point performance.
SD
Brittany Fuhrman, Mobridge has a torn ligament in the thumb and had missed parts of five games. She should ready to go this week.

ANALYSIS: Iowa
Iowa had six all conference players last year. Anne O'Neil (CR Kennedy) Iowa State; Jamie Cavey (North Cedar) Iowa; Alex Cook (Decorah) Northern Iowa; Cassie Hager (Perry) Northern Iowa; Elisha Turek (Council Bluffs Lincoln) Oral Roberts; Jill Martin (Norwalk) Drake.
As you can see five of these players stayed in state to achieve their success. Only Turek left. Looking at where they atteneded school five attended either 4A or 3A with Cavey attending 2A. O'Neil comes in at the smallest at 5-11, Hager the tallest at 6-7. O'Neil is the only one listed as a guard. Martin is listed as a g/f (6-3).
Three of these players are still around today. Hager is an 06, Turek and Martin 07s. All of these players are the leading scorers again on their respective teams this season.
The hs/c point factor for these players: O'Neil .540; Martin .588; Hager .649; Turek .712; Cavey .855; and Cook .985. I have no idea why Cook averaged 13.3 ppg in HS, but she came close to that mark in college. I can assume that her HS team had pretty decent balance, but I think she may have been underutilized. She may have had the ability to hit 20 ppg. All these scores are pretty good. I did not have any ratings in HS of these players. I only have started rating Iowa recently.
Of the nine members of the 04 HS class only Ally Thrall (Dowling Catholic) Creighton was a starter. This season she has increased her ppg by seven points and is now at a .884 rating compared to .322 last year. This is pretty typical of freshmen as the game becomes much faster and physical than what they saw in HS.
The first attempt to rate these players came in Thrall's senior year. I listed her as #8 and this was with 05s too. If it was just 04s she would be #4. Her number was 43. However these ratings were just the Des Moines area and Northern Iowa. The players I had abover her: Steph Chelleen (DM Lincoln) Illinois; Mary Beth Biga (Ankeny) Northern Iowa for golf---she was not listed on the roster this fall season; and Cari Cimmiyotti (St. Ansgar) Waldorf, an NAIA school. Chelleen's rating this season is .095. This may indicate that Illinois and the Big 10 was not a good fit. Cimmiyotti is at a .342 rating at Waldorf. Clearly this indicates that the screen I use to rate these players was not strong enough.
