MICHIGAN FINALS
In the notebook at the Detroit Free Press they point out that scoring reached a new low with the D finals 47 points for both teams combined and overall for all the finals. Another low point was St. Clair with 23 in the final against B champ Unity Christian. Also from the Port Huron Times-Herald.
My opinion---players don't have the individual offensive skills that they once had. Defense wins championships, but a player that can dribble, make passes and knows the difference from a good and bad shot are fewer & far between. Not enough time is spent on the ordinary boring fundamentals nationwide.
One player that doesn't have a problem with offense is Saginaw Nouvel's "super soph" Jenny Ryan who ripped it up for 30 points in the final against Flint Hamady. Fromthe Saginaw News.
Next up: Iowa, Wisconsin and later tonight a look at the week that was and the week to come.
