Pettit Verbals, Practice Begins in 3 States

PETTIT VERBALS
Katie Pettit of Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted has verballed to Bemidji State. The 5-6 guard averaged 16.6 ppg for the 25-6 5AA champions.
Pettit played with MN Suns Fassett this summer.

Pettit is the 37th player from the 2009 Minnesota class overall to verbal and the 18th headed to D2.
Pettit is the 5th player from MN Suns Fassett to verbal. Others include
Pam January, Jamie Noonan, Kylie Gottsman, and Jasmin Mendes.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE RESULTS
MN West beat Hibbing 68-58 on Saturday. Ashley Kirk (Tracy-Milroy-Balaton) had 22 points for MN West. Alia Cook (Hibbing) had 18 for Hibbing. From the Worthington Daily Globe.

Kirkwood (4-0) rolled to two wins in the John Wood Tournament in Quincy.

In Friday's opener Kirkwood set school records for points (140) and three point field goals (16) in a 140-24 victory over the University of St Louis Club Team.Six Kirkwood players scored in double figures led by Freshman Staci Gillum (Waukee, IA) with 24. Nicole Holman (Louisville, KY) added 20, McKensey Long (Carthage, IL) 18, Kari Goodchild (Van Horne, IA) 18, Jayne Strand (Ames, IA) 13 and Amanda De La Cruz (Manhattan, NY) 13.

Gillum added 10 assists and nine steals while El Sara Greer (Waterloo, IA)grabbed 12 rebounds.

In Saturday afternoons game the Eagles jumped out to a 55-16 half-time lead to beat the University of Illinois Club team 107-29. McKensey Long led with 22 points including six three point field goals. Amanda De La Cruz added 17, Andi Waugaman (Waukee, IA) 13, Alicia Wright (Urbandale, IA) 12 and Nicole Holman 10 to pace the attack.

De La Cruz led with seven assists while El Sara Greer grabbed 16 rebounds.

Kirkwood travels to Council Bluffs, Iowa on Friday and Saturday to face Northeast CC, NB and the host Iowa Western.

AAU
Metro Stars Program Director Andy Meinhardt will be holding tryouts for the top 7th graders in the metro area this Sunday (Nov 16th) at the Bloomington Jefferson Activity Center from 7-9 PM.
