ROCHESTER CTC yellowjackets 74,
NORTH IOWA AREA CC trojans 51

Rochester beat North Iowa in a non conference match up 74-51. The Yellowjackets went on an 11-0 run in the middle of the first half to cement their win. Maria Gangelhoff led Rochester with 17 points off the bench.

After the game RCTC's Anne Breland (Rochester Lourdes) signed with UW Milwaukee. 5-11 sharpshooter had 16 points on the night, 9 of which came behind the arc.

Both teams were sluggish at the start. Rochester had a drought of 11 in the first portion of the game, 8 of which were turnovers, 4 of which were traveling calls. NIACC (pronounced NYE-ack) only added four points to their total to trail 10-8. NIACC had their own 8 possession drought, but if you combine that with another 8 possession drought sandwiched around three scores their floor % was a frosty .158 and a chilly pp100 31.6. Rochester scored on five straight possessions with Gangelhoff and Amanda Degnan scoring all 11 points in the 11-0 run. At their widest margin in the first half the Yellowjackets led 41-17. That was a 31-7 run by Rochester. At the end of the half Rochester subbed liberally and NIACC had a brief 6-1 run to make it 42-23 at the half.

In the second half Rochester's biggest lead was 21. NIACC did cut the margin to 14 points at 61-47 with 5:30 to go. The Trojans comeback slowed when they had a four possession dry spell. When NIACC's Nicole Eenhuis fouled out she said something to the official and was slapped with a T. All that energy to cut the margin to 14 was soon back to 21. Rochester closed with a 10-3 run.

One big advantage Rochester had was at the free throw line. The Yellowjackets made 29 points at the line while NIACC only attempted 22. Oddly enough NIACC attempted 14 more shots from the floor. The Trojans were extremely active on the offensive boards. Both teams were sloppy with both teams at or over 25 turnovers.
