Detroit Renaissance beat Highland Park 76-24 with 11 Renaissance players sitting in the stands amid an internal matter. Apparently there is a player-parent vs coach rebellion simmering. The parents want the coach fired. From the Detroit Free Press and the Detroit News.
editorial---why now? why pick this fight right before regions? Sometimes players and parents have to pull their boots up and overcome obstacles. Not everything is going to be milk and cookies. Coaches want to win. They will play the best. If they don't, they lose. My advice rise above it all and perform. Don't throw wrenches into the season now. On the outside looking in it makes it seem petty, and whining, not big time.
If you have the Dick DeVenzio book "There's Only One Way to Win" go to chapter 4 and read about what great coaches think about parents and their complaints.
DeVenzio in another book has advice for parents. In "Think Like a Champion" go to the 75th entry. It gives a clear indication what parental involvement should entail. Here is a snippet from that reading (talking to parents)--"realize that you have done this (stepping in, getting involved) for yourself. Not for your son or daughter. The best thing you can do for sons and daughters, once you have permitted them to become involved in a sport, is to let them play it out. If it's too painful for you, let them quit. But don't butt-in.
For every time a parent has successfully butted in, there are probably twenty thousand parents who should have kept out."

Unity Christian beat Zeeland East 35-30. From the Grand Rapids Press.
