MINNESOTA REPORTS
final edition
TOURNAMENT
The first #1 team was knocked off yesterday in the girls basketball post season as #5W Pine Island beat #1W Kingsland 50-36 in overtime. Their were some great lessons/warnings for all favorites, and a blueprint for underdogs in the upcoming battles:
1. Be ready to play right off the bat. Coming back from a 16-0 deficit can be done, but it is hard to do.
2. Get to the line. PI made twice as many trips.... in regulation... than Kingsland attempted.
3. Limit shots. Those that control the boards, control their destiny.
TODAY'S BEST BETS
A: Minneota vs Renville County West at SW MN State in the 3A North Semis. RCW beat #1 RTR.
AA: #2W Cannon Falls vs #3W Rochester Lourdes. A match up of the Hiawatha Valley championship last week. CF won 39-36 on Jordan Montgomery's last second three.
Another intriguing match up: Fairmont vs Pipestone at St. James. Both were in the state tournament last year. Pipestone's Faith Tinklenberg has been out with mono. Fairmont has been on a roll lately.
AAA: Hutchinson at Willmar. the #5 vs #4 in the 2AAA quarters.
AAAA: Moorhead at St. Cloud Tech. The most interesting 8 vs 1 pairing. Kelsey Jacobson is back for Moorhead.
