8AA WEST QUARTERFINALS
DILWORTH-GLYNDON-FELTON rebels 75
PERHAM yellowjackets 39

For the second time in five days we headed west on 94 to the Red River Valley to see a team on the list. Last Friday it was Hawley vs EGF. Today we traveled a few miles west. DGF was #47 on the MaxPreps list, and that would complete the top 50. I now have seen the top 52 teams according to MaxPreps, and 71/75 or a .947%. Coach Teas needed to be convinced on this game.
This was a #4 vs #5 match up that was over rather quickly. Three on a match was no problem for DGF. In fact DGF expanded on the first two 20 point wins. The odd thing is that Perham coming into the game had a 7 game winning streak with wins over good teams like Detroit Lakes and West Central. Also last year Perham was the surprise of the post season getting to the finals in 8AAA, a class above. DGF is now 19-7 and has won 9 of their last 10. Their only loss in that sequence was in overtime to the #1 AA team in the state Crookston. They will see Crookston on Thursday. Perham finished up at 18-9.

I don't know if it was the home court advantage that made DGF comfortable with their shots, but it seemed so effortless, and easy for the senior dominated Rebels. Take a look at the starters pp100---a 131.1 (which would be a new record by 5) and a floor % of .600. Perham actually led in this game at 3-2 after a Tara Sailer 3, but after that it was a 8 possession drought. The early lack of offensive success and the fouls that were piling up on their inside player Elisa Moenkedick put a crimp in their game plan. She never got on track and was limited in her performance. DGF also had early foul trouble with Jennifer Lopez picking up two quick fouls. However DGF was able to carry that burden. DGF used a five possession string with a 12-3 run to go up 25-10. Included in that run was Sarah Driscoll's back to back threes. The lethal combination of inside action by Jenna Green and the perimeter balance took DGF to a 37-21 halftime lead.

DGF opened the second half with 10/12 offensive sequence and a 18-5 run to put the game out of reach. It seemed that Perham basically surrendered. Kind of like "here we go again." The game never had the playoff feel or sense of urgency. DGF started to pull their starters with six minutes left. After that DGF fell into a 9 possession drought. The Rebels did score on their last two possessions. It now sets up a rematch with Crookston. I am sure that contest will be sharply contested and played with more energy that I saw tonight.
Two other notes. I barged in on my sister in laws play practice after the game. She teaches in the DGF system. Also this was the last Tuesday game of the year. There will be no Tuesday games next week for some reason.
