BRAHAM bombers 67,
HINCKLEY-FINLAYSON jaguars 40

The one conference in Minnesota that is invisible is the Great River. There are no daily papers in the coverage area and so that means games are not very well publicized or players as well known throughout the state. Tonight we traveled to Hinckley to see a battle between the conference leader Braham Bombers with three starters in junior high (two of them Dahlmans) against the second place Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars with 6-7 Gopher recruit Amber Dvorak. It was speed over size as Braham lived up to the Bomber name with ten 3s on the night in a game that was not very close at all 67-40.

HF did lead in this game...once at 2-0 on two free throws by Emily Scholten. Then it was colder than Siberia as their offense went on a 1/15 spree which translates to a .067 floor % and a 20 pp100. They had problems getting into the offense. Their big kids, 6-7 Dvorak and 6-1 Scholten were, at various times, at the wing behind the 3 point line. But of the 14 nonscoring possessions 8 were on turnovers. The passes and ball handling were not crisp. Braham also was much more alert, aggressive and aware. They got to balls quickly and looked to motor down court. HF on defense used 2/3 the first half with Dvorak in the middle. With that towering presence inside, Braham worked the ball around the perimeter and sniped from behind the arc. Braham nailed six 3s in the first half. Three of their six 2pt field goals were scored in transition. After a 5 all tie Braham had a 19-4 run. Braham led at half time 32-15. Devin Deidrich had 12 at half for Braham, Lisa Lymburner was the only HF player that had more than one basket at half with 9 points. Dvorak only had three possessions at half and not one point.

There was not much suspense in the second half. HF was forced to come out of their zone. Braham was smoking with a 7/8 sequence on a 15-2 run in the second half. The biggest Braham lead came at 63-29 with 6:30 left. A couple of delay game practice possessions for Braham and then the bench was emptied. Braham has not lost yet in Minnesota (their only loss was to Osceola, WI). The Bombers are now 22-1. HF is 15-5.

key: player (grad year) points, possessions, pp100, floor %
BRAHAM
Brittney Peterson (08) 4, 9, 44.4, .222 david sized post against Dvorak. did a fine job defensively leaning on Dvorak keeping her off balance. offensively did more distributing than looking to score.
Liz Anderson (11) 11, 7, 157.1, .571 one of the diaper dandies from Braham. Small guard. good shooter, had three treys on the day. was also active defensively.
Devin Diedrich (08) 23, 17, 135.3, .529 good athlete. She is headed to SW MN State for volleyball. She is an athletic 6-0 perimeter that can shoot the 3 (made five) runs the floor. gets off the floor. She has good body control. She also has decent ball handling skills and vision.
Becca Dahlman (13) 14, 14, 100.0, .500 the youngest of the diaper dandies. guard, can hit the 3. gets down the floor in a hurry. was very active defensively with five steals. was absolutely hammered on a couple of break aways and bounced right up. does not play like a 7th grader at all.
Hannah Dahlman (11) 11, 9, 122.2, .556 older sister of Becca. another diaper dandy, has good shot technique, 3 range, can drive to the basket. defensively not as active as sister. Dahlman family for those that don't know, have had brothers with state championships. These two are starting off young.
BENCH
Emily Bendickson (09) 2, 3, 66.7, .333 guard
Allison Turnquist (09) 2, 1, 200.0, 1.000 guard
Kate Bendickson (11) 0, 1, 0.0, .000
LeAnn Loerzel (08) 0, 1, 0.0, .000 back up post
Joanna Hale (11) 0, 1, 0.0, .000
Kirsten Nelson (08) 0, 1, 0.0, .000
Halie LaTourelle (09) 0, 1, 0.0, .000
Katie Nickles (11) 0, 1, 0.0, .000
Maria Shockman (10) 0, 0, 0.0, .000
Tina Skiffard (08) 0, 0, 0.0, .000

HINCKLEY-FINLAYSON
STARTERS
Emily Scholten (08) 4, 7, 57.1, .286 6-1 post. was mismatched when having to guard Diedrich on the perimeter. offensively is strongest in the paint.
Samantha Lindfors (08) 2, 10, 20.0, .100 guard
Lisa Lymburner (09) 19, 16, 118.8, .500 point guard. she is right handed, but uses her left hand like it is her natural hand. she has size at 5-11. will take the ball to the basket. also has 3 range. went to the line 5 times. can score when hit. over relied on dribble entry to left side on offense.
Amber Dvorak (09) 7, 10, 70.0, .400 at 6-7 biggest player in MN. however on offense she should get wider when posting, drop her weight or sit down, initiate contact. Her hands are good. Her touch is nice. she keeps the ball nice and high. she needs to square up. She needs to post up on the first hash, not the block itself. She isn't in a position to score many times at the 3 point line on offense. Some of her turnovers came when she was passing the ball in. HF doesn't run the floor, so her transition game will need attention. She needs to play at a higher pace. good potential for improvement.
Amanda Bergstad (08) 0, 6, 0.0, .000 guard
BENCH
Amy Schmitz (10) 3, 10, 30.0, .100 back up guard. Needs to improve ball handling vs pressure and passing skills.
Emily Schwantke (10) 4, 2, 200.0, 1.000 had a pull up and scored on a drive &1.
Katie Klar (10) 0, 1, 0.0, .000
Ashley Schwantke (10) 0, 1, 0.0, .000
Clarissa Christiansen (09) 0, 1, 0.0, .000
Kim Scullard (11) 1, 1, 100.0, 1.000
Tayler Grimm (11) 0, 1, 0.0, .000
