NEW LIFE eagles 76, WEST LUTHERAN warriors 39

#3A New Life built a 42-20 halftime lead behind 18 points from Jenny Ramey in this MCAA contest. Mondays are usually the domain of class A, but more outstate than metro. With the slim opportunities in the Metro this was the top contest with two teams with winning records. New Life is now 8-1 while West Lutheran is 6-5.

It seemed like everyone was going to score on each possession as the two teams scored four straight possessions. WL never led, but did tie it up three times, the last at 6. The droughts hit WL harder with a 1/9 sequence. NL went on a 9-2 run to lead 18-10. WL had their own 8-4 run to cut the margin to 22-18. After that WL walked in the desert. The rest of the half NL outscored WL 20-2. WL was only 1/15 with their chances--a 13.3 pp100 and .067 floor %. WL tried to stop the NL freight train with four time outs in the first half. NL seized the opportunity with Ramey delivering 8 of those points. She put an exclamation mark at the buzzer with a 3 two steps inside midcourt.

WL had a 9-1 run to start the half, 7 of which came on second chancers. That cut the lead to 43-29. Sarah Nisleit was the only NL player connecting on the first 9 possessions as she scored 7 points, the last six on 3s in the left corner. NL took a time out to try to get the sense of urgency back. It seemed to work as NL went on a 14-4 run to make the score 57-33. There really was never any question after that point on the outcome.

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE
New Life started man, and eventually settled on 2/3. A couple of times they used a 1/3/1 and used the 2/3 to rush the ball handlers, but for the most part it was 2/3.
West Lutheran also started man. They tried 1/3/1, and 2/3. They returned to man later.
