Iowa Edges Illinois, High Five goes to Minnesota

Iowa edged Illinois 60-58 on Kristi Smith's shot with under 7 seconds left. Jenna Smith (Bloomington Kennedy) had 21 for Illinois.

Wisconsin Coach Lisa Stone has her usual Monday morning press conference. Tara Steinbauer is talked about in question 1.

SUMMIT LEAGUE
Western Illinois beat Centenary 78-48. Lindsey Wutt (Waterford, WI) had 6 for Western Illinois.

North Dakota State beat Southern Utah 63-50. Brenda Slyt (Climax-Fisher) had 16 for NDSU.

South Dakota State beat UMKC 76-63. Jenn Warkenthien (Willow Lake, SD) had 22 for SDSU. Maria Boever (Worthington) also had 18 for Jackrabbits. . Alysa Klein (Okoboji, IA), who reached her 1000th point, had 12 for UMKC. Marta Waalen (St. Paul Central) ended up with 3 for the Kangaroos.

IUPUI beat Oral Roberts 69-48.

EAST
Longwood beat Columbia 59-52. Chelsea Frazier (Breck) had 15 for Columbia.

AWARDS
Amanda Parker of Western Michigan (Muskegon Mona Shores, MI) was named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week.

Kelsey Bolte of Iowa State (Battle Creek-Ida Grove, IA) won her second straight Big 12 rookie of the week honor.

Maggie Dwyer of Missouri State (Grand Haven, MI) won her straight Missouri Valley newcomer of the week award, and her 4th overall.

HIGH FIVE
Minnesota dominated the team end, while Jenn Warkenthien gave South Dakota the individual title on Monday.
Minnesota only has 11.5 wins in the team category, which is good for 4th place 11.5 behind leader Michigan.
South Dakota picked up their second win in the individual race and it is Warkenthien's first time leading the high five.
