Minnesota traveled to Madison and upended Wisconsin 81-73. Leslie Knight (Hopkins) had 20 for Minnesota. Ashley Ellis-Milan (St. Paul Central) had 7 and Katie Ohm (Elgin-Millville) had 5 also for the Gophers. Jolene Anderson (South Shore) had 16 for Wisconsin. Tara Steinbauer (Bloomington Kennedy) had 5 and Alyssa Karel (Cretin-Derham Hall) had 2, and Sarah Ingison (Concordia Roseville) did not score for the Badgers.
The Capital Times blames the loss on a lack of identity. Minnesota has the physical reputation.
Prior to the game Wisconsin Coach Stone talked to the media. Question #2 deals with Alyssa Karel.
SUMMIT LEAGUE
South Dakota State beat Oakland 81-71. Andrea Verdegan (Flambeau, WI) had 21 fro SDSU. Jessica Pike (Clawson, MI) had 18 for Oakland.
North Dakota State beat IPFW 87-47. Lisa Bue (Austin) cracked the 1000 point mark with 22. Chelsey Jackson (Flint Central) had 8 for IPFW.
IUPUI beat UMKC 56-51. Alysa Klein (Okoboji, IA) had 20 for UMKC. Marta Waalen (St. Paul Central) added 2 for UMKC.
Western Illinois beat Southern Utah 58-39. Lindsey Wutt (Waterford, WI) had 2 for WIU.
MIDWEST
Eastern Illinois beat Austin Peay 75-52. Ellen Canale (Plymouth Salem, MI) had 13 for EIU.
EAST
Cornell beat Binghamton 61-59. Muffy Sadler (Cedar Rapids Kennedy) did not score for Binghamton.
SOUTH
Kentucky beat Wofford 67-57. Samantha Mahoney (West Bloomfield, MI) had 4 for Kentucky.
Prairie View A&M beat Alcorn State 68-28
AWARDS
Tiera DeLaHoussaye of Western Michigan (Detroit Country Day) won her 4th Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week honor and 2nd in a row.
TRANSFER
Katherine Young will be joining Central Michigan next season. Young was at Mississippi State. She is originally from Detroit Cass.
HIGH FIVE
Minnesota swept the High Five on Monday. MN is in 4th place in the team standings with 10.5 wins, and in 3rd place in the individual standings with 11.5.
Bue is in a three way tie for second with 4 wins.
