TIP OFF CLASSIC: ONLY ONE GAME
ADA-BORUP cougars 74
MOUNTAIN IRON-BUHL rangers 41

The Breakdown Tip Off Classic only played one game today as the inclement weather kept metro teams at home, and those at Fergus Falls wanted to get home before the roads became even worse. Even DGF a good 30 minutes away would not send their team.

For those of you that aren't familiar with Minnesota. Fergus Falls is about 3 hours to the northwest of the Twin Cities. I made the journey up this morning. I came back in three hours this afternoon. The conditions are by no means ideal, but I was able to go 60 miles an hour on the way home most of the time. Let's just say I have driven in much, much worse.

The games that were scheduled today will be made up later, but probably the opponents will change. The Metro teams will meet at Rogers at an undetermined date. That line up will include Rogers, Lakeville North, Park-Cottage Grove and Centennial.
The Outstate teams will go back to Fergus Falls with Becker, Crookston, DGF, Albany and Moorhead in attendance.
Both of these games will take place on a Saturday to be determined. They might not be on the same Saturday.

As it was the only game in town was the current Class A #1 Ada-Borup pressing Mt. Iron-Buhl to a 74-41 victory. AB used quick ball movement on the perimeter with snappy passing and player movement with cuts and screens in the half court game. More often than not they scored in transition off turnovers or missed shots, or, in rare cases, when MIB scored. If AB didn't score on the first crack they scored on the second or third opportunity in the same possession. If they didn't score from the floor, AB scored at the line. AB had 12 second chance points in the first half. AB also had 14 points in the first half off transition. Another feature for AB was the way the all hit the floor for loose balls. At times two players were getting raspberries going for a stray ball.

MIB actually started off with a 2-0 lead. After that AB ran off 13 in a row before MIB found the bottom of the net. MIB went through a 10 possession drought. MIB also had a pair of five possession droughts. AB led at halftime 42-19. Brittany Burke hit a three at the buzzer for AB.

It was more of the same in the second half. AB eventually led 71-33. Soon thereafter they put in the deep bench. MIB outscored the Cougars 8-3 to finish the contest.
