MOUNDS PARK TOURNAMENT
ST. PAUL ARLINGTON phoenix 59
MOUNDS PARK panthers 52

In the second semifinal it was Arlington over Mounds Park 59-52. I was wondering if Arlington was going to field a team. Only four warmed up. They filtered out of the locker room piecemeal one at time. There was no urgency in getting on the floor. Apparently they didn't need it....tonight.

Both teams both struggled early in the game Arlington had droughts of six, five of which ended up as turnovers. MP had a seven drought with only one due to a turnover. MP had their biggest lead at 8-5. After that Arlington had a 7-0 run to take a 12-8 lead. They stretched it out to 18-12. MP clawed back with two consecutive three point plays, one a trey from Jasmine Auger and then a traditional 3 point play by Karee JuVette. Ruby Harvey answered right away with a three from the right wing. At halftime Arlington was up 26-23.

Arlington started the second half with a 9-0 run to lead 35-23. Harvey had four points in transition in the run. JuVette finally broke the five possession drought. That started a 10-4 run to cut the lead to 39-35. Again Arlington popped the lead back to 43-36 after a Harvey transition lay up. Kathryn Andersen scored four straight points on two consecutive possessions to get MP as close as they were going to get at 43-40. They had two cracks to get closer, but didn't deliver. Arlington had a 9-4 run to stretch the lead to 52-44 with 1:50 left. MP desperately tried to get back in it with some three bombs, but the margin was too deep with too little time left.
