MOUNDS PARK TOURNAMENT
PROVIDENCE lions 61
ST. AGNES aggies 39

After four days with no out & abouts I started off with the holiday tournaments at Mounds Park with Providence beating St. Agnes 61-39 in the first semifinal. None of the teams in this tournament will not be challenging for conference titles. Most of the teams are AA. But as it is the only tournament in town today I was there.

St. Agnes scored on their first possession and then went into the deep freeze for the next 16 possessions. Providence responded with a 17-0 run. The best Providence offensive sequence came late in the half with four straight scores. Jenna Brady had six points in that 8-0 run. St. Agnes had another double digit dry spell with 10 possessions empty. It was 32-12 at half time.

Samantha Zopfi scored the first 7 points in the second half. Providence stretched their lead to 29 points in the middle of the second half. One half of St. Agnes' one two connection, Rayanne Klein, had 15 points in the second half. Providence led 56-30 with 6 minutes left, but only managed five more points the rest of the way. They used the deep bench at that point. One interesting side note---St. Agnes went to bonus at 58.6 seconds left in the game, indicating that both teams were either playing cleanly or the offenses were content taking outside shots, and didn't attack the basket.

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE
St. Agnes played 2/3 throughout the game. With a thin bench they couldn't afford too many fouls.
Providence played man but used the 1/1/3 or 2/3 zone most of the game. They did use full court pressure.
