DE LA SALLE islanders 70
MARSHALL tigers 62

Today was a double header theme day: the theme AAA Metro Catholic schools vs outstate AAA schools. The opener #2 DeLaSalle vs Marshall.
DeLaSalle celebrated coach Brian Frye's birthday with a 70-62 win. DLS had a 15 second half lead, but Marshall staged a rally to cut it to 64-60 with under two minutes left. The Islanders held on for the victory. Aaryn Booker provided 27 points for DLS. Also this is the first game I have been at all year where they used the shot clock.

Marshall was up 11-10 with 11 minutes to go in the first half when DLS went on a 10-0 run Booker was shut out until then, but scored six points in that run. Marshall was mired in a seven possession drought. Later in the first half DLS went on a 5/6 possession scoring spree. The hosts led 35-22 at the break.

Marshall came out scoring 8 points on thier first 3 possessions. Anna Full nailed two straight 3s iat the start of the half. It was 39-30. DLS pushed that lead back out to 17 points (50-33). At that point DLS got sloppy and coughed the ball on four straight possessions, all poor passeing decisions/execution. Marshall seized advantage of that to cut the margin to 50-40. DLS pushed their lead back out to 57-44 with 7:30 left in the contest. Marshall wasn't quite finished as they scored on five straight possessions to cut it back to 62-52. The press was really bothering DLS with two straight turnovers and lay ups for the Tigers. Marshall had another run ---8-0---to cut the margin to 64-60 with slightly under 2 minutes to go. Booker delivered two free throws with the Tigers at the door. That stopped the Tiger surge and DLS handed their coach a birthday win.

the comments are going to be brief due to the two games I covered today.
