New Players, New Gyms, New Network, New Drills

SIGNING
Sarah Rogers of Chicago Marshall has signed with Northern Illinois. The 5-8 guard averaged 12.1 ppg for the 26-7 3A Illinois State champs last season.

TRANSFER
Zivile Gaizutyte has transferred from Lassen Community College to Montana State Northern. Gaizutyte is a 6-2 post originally from Lithuania. From KXMC.

COACHING NEWS
Northwestern has added Daniel Prince and Tennille Adams as assistant coaches.

Indiana has hired Adam Bowen as video coordinator.

Megan Thorburn has been hired as an assistant at Grand Valley State. Thorburn is from Mason, MI and is a Bowling State grad.

NEW GYMS
West Catholic ($4.2 million) and Grand Rapids Christian ($9 million) have opened new gyms. From the Grand Rapids Press.

CABLE NETWORK
The MHSAA (the Michigan high school organization) and Comcast are starting their own cable network. From the Grand Haven Tribune.

SCHEDULES
BIG 10: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, and Wisconsin have released their 2008-09 schedules.
MORE: Butler, Drake, UW Green Bay have released their schedule.

TRY OUTS
Wayne State University in Michigan will have open tryouts on Saturday, Sept. 27.

POINTS AND POINT GUARDS
Rethinking Basketball looks at the point guard position and uses the Lynx vs Mercury game as an example. Kelly Miller (Rochester Mayo) for the Merc deserves more credit for the win according to the number crunching.

SHOOTING & PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
Brian McCormick has updated his 180 Shooter and the Crossover Movement sites. With the 180 shooter you can get shooting progressions with 200 drills and a practice plan. You can now get six chapters of the Crossover Movement on line.
