3 Ohio Verbals, Young Q&A, Lawsuit, & Six Years

THREE OHIO VERBALS
Ashley Andrews of Marion Pleasant and Kayla Brown of Riverdale have verballed Findlay a D2 program.
Mikeala Ruef of Beavercreek has verballed Stanford.

This pushes the Ohio verbals from the 2009 class to 44 overall.
Ruef is the 33rd player to verbal a D1 program.
Andrews & Brown are the 9th & 10th to verbal a D2 program.

MSU BILLINGS SIGNINGS
Laura Jo Kipp of Browning, Montana and Melissa Porter of North Sevier, Utah have signed with MSU Billings.
Kipp is a 6-0 center who averaged 17 ppg last season.
Porter is a 6-3 center who is also on the volleyball team at MSU Billings.

MEET THE NEWCOMERS
Michigan has a feature on their site meeting newcomers. Today it is Lauren Young from Edina by way of Colorado State.

FALL LEAGUE
The 43 Hoops team, who was shellacked by Hopkins on Saturday at the Roosevelt Fall League semifinals, turned around and beat the very same Hopkins team 38-35 Sunday in Minnetonka in the MYAS Fall League.
Teams that are undefeated after two weeks:
Armstrong Black: Centennial, Armstrong, Champlin Park
Minnetonka: None. Four teams are 3-1--Hopkins Black, Bloomington Kennedy, 43 Hoops Zuck, and NT Gals.
Blaine: Blaine
Concordia St. Paul: Barnum (When they lost to Western WI two weeks ago it was an exhibition contest).
Eagan/Eastview: Lady Lightning, Cannon Falls
Armstrong White: Elks, Gatos, Armstrong White.

PRESEASON POLLS

Minnetonka, MN – October 17 and 18 – (Friday and Saturday) - Minnetonka HS
9:00am – 12:00pm Friday and 9:00am – 12:00pm Saturday cost $60

LAWSUIT
Former Texas Southern women's basketball coach Surina Dixon has sued the school alleging gender discrimination and retaliation in her firing in June. From the International Herald Tribune.

POLICE BLOTTER
Former Lexington, Nebraska assistant girls basketball coach Kelsey Peterson was sentenced to six years in prison. She pled guilty to crossing state lines to have sex with someone younger than 18. From the Omaha World Herald.

RACE FOR THE CURE
Marquette and Cornerstone participated in the Race for the Cure this past weekend.

ALUMNI WEEKEND
Nebraska held their alumni weekend last Saturday and Sunday.
