North St. Paul MYAS 17u
MINNEAPOLIS SOUTH tigers 59, FRIDLEY tigers 35
In the battle of the undefeated Tigers it was the city variety beating their suburban counterparts 56-38. In so doing, South won the North St. Paul MYAS event. The South defensive heat forced 26 turnovers while only committing 11.
Fridley led in this game early 7-2. After that, South went on a rampage. South finished the half with a 32-11 run. Fridley had a 10 possession drought after the score was tied at 9 and they never recovered. By the time the suburban Tigers scored again, the city Tigers had a 14-0 run in the works. Once South started to roll Fridley hurried their offense taking the first 18 footer that looked open. That only played in to the City Tigers hands. The tempo and pressure belong to South. Then the recriminations started. By that time South was up 34-18 at half time.
After an initial flurry at the start by both teams, Fridley cooled off. They had a 2/17 offensive sequence with droughts of 8 and 5. South had one minor drought of four.
