MISS BASKETBALL
Jenna Smith, Bloomington Kennedy was named Miss Basketball tonight at the annual banquet. She will be attending Illinois next fall. She becomes the 15th AAAA player, and sixth Lake Conference player to win the award. She is the 12th of the last 16 players to come from the Metro area. She is the 6th straight winner to go to a Big 10 school.
BITS AND PIECES
Ken Lien, the man that developed the Mr. and Miss Basketball award, will be stepping aside after 30 years of running the event.
Kiara Allums, who played at St. Paul Highland Park this past season, is now enrolled in her home district of Centennial.
AAU NEWS
Coach Willie Taylor's 19u Minnesota Stars defeated the Metro Stars in the Prior Lake tournament today. Jenna Smith and Cory Montgomery, Cannon Falls had solid games according to coach Taylor. The Metro Stars have Miss Basketball finalists Kelly Mullaney, Jillian Schurle, and Jessie Miller on their squad along with Gopher recruit Breanna Salley.
COACHING NEWS
