20s and a look back

A LOOK BACK
AAAA is the largest classification in Minnesota. I have some numbers for points/possessions and it illuminates why teams were successful.
The average ppg for all games I saw was 55.56, the AAAA ppg was actually lower with 55.15, however in the state tournament the ppg increased to 55.68.
The possessions average was 65.5 in all the games I saw. In the regular season it was 65.1 in AAAA, however in the state tournament possessions dropped to 62.4. That means that the efficiency of the offenses were better. Also 1 possession in the regular season= 1.05 in the post season.
The points per 100 possessions were 83.27 for all games I saw. AAAA scores more during the season with 84.72, and it gets better in the state tournament with 89.28.
Floor % follows the same pattern--average .405 for all games, .412 for AAAA on the season, and .431 in the state tournament.

Looking at four teams that I have charts for over five games--
Team offensivepp100, offfloor%; defpp100; deffloor %, margin

Bloomington Kennedy 102.92 .487 85.29 .400 17.63
Hopkins 97.70 .493 78.41 .365 19.29
Roseville 91.33 .458 87.23 .417 4.10
St. Paul Central 89.75 .430 75.06 .379 14.69

Hopkins leads in efficiency on both ends of the floor. They also have the margin as well. There is a reason they are state champs.
In fact in the championship game against Kennedy Hopkins' pp100 was 114.04, 16.34 better than the average. Their floor % was .544 or 51 better. But it was the defense also that stifled a top offensive team Kennedy--The Kennedy pp100 was 82.76 or 20.16 off their average. And the floor % was also way off at .345 or 142 off their average.

Next up tomorrow night on the road again.
