Out & About: MN All Star Game #2

#1 posting 4.23.2006

3A 88, 1A 45

What a difference a year makes. Last year 1A won the whole series going away, but 1A was brought to earth by 3A this year in a 88-45 drubbing. 3A came out on fire and 1A didn't have a fire extinguisher. Jessica Miller started off the scoring with a three. 3A scored the next two possesions and opened up with a 7-0 lead. The game was fairly tight early with a 14-12 lead by 3A. The bottom fell out for 1A when 3A scored 12 out of 14 possessions including nine straight. It was a 24-4 run Tressa Beckel had 8 points for the 3As during the run. The athletic ability, speed, spring, height, and quickness was too much for the 1A team. 1A had a extremely dry patch with a 2 for 23 scoring possession sequence. 3A finished the half with another 5/6 scoring run. At the half it was 49-24 3A in command.

It didn't change at all in the second half. 3A opened with four straight scoring possessions. 1A continued to struggle from the floor. The only question was whether 3A could reach 90. They couldn't. They won 88-45.

This sets up the clash between the top two classes tomorrow at St. Cloud State's Hallenbeck Hall at 3:30 with the 2A vs 1A battle for third at 1:30. If 4A starts sluggishly tomorrow it will be over quick. 3A is athletic. 4A still is favored, but the margin drops to five points.

You might be wondering why Gronli and Evan don't have numbers. It is because they both wore the number 33 and I didn't distinguish between the two like I did for Mileusnic and Storer (both wore #30) I am going to try to sort it out later.
