MINNESOTA REPORTS
If it was Black Tuesday for #1 seeds in AAAA on Tuesday it was the Wednesday Night Massacre for #1s for class A last night. Three #1s went down with the biggest being #4 Barnum's loss to Bigfork. Section 4 (where I was last night) had both #1s fall. Barnum joins #3 Cedar Mt-Comfrey on the sidelines

AAA
1: #3 Northfield upset #2 Albert Lea in a long weather delayed semifinal. #1 New Prague clipped Red Wing 66-46.

AA
5: Eden Valley-Watkins slipped by Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 51-48. plus a brief recap of the Norwood-Young America 55-42 win over Mayer Lutheran From the St. Cloud Times.
7: The top teams advance here and sets up a rematch of a narrow win by #1 west Crosby-Ironton over #1 East Esko. CI beat Eveleth-Gilbert 63-53 while Esko beat Lake of the Woods 67-58.

A
7: #1 South Barnum fell to #2 North Bigfork 46-35. A night after racking up 49, Colleen McKay had 22, but she never got the help and support from the rest of her teammates. Barnum led at half time 22-19 with McKay providing 17. Bigfork's senior posts made sure McKay was well covered. Bigfork was up by seven with 3:37 left on the clock and held the ball until Barnum finally fouled Shelby Goble. She sunk them both. Barnum couldn't hang on to the ball as they were pretty shook up and Bigfork got it back. Jordan Beach put up a 2 at the buzzer and it went in.
#1 North Chisholm did survive another day with a 61-50 win over Wrenshall.

Here are some reader submitted photos of the action last night with Bigfork and Barnum. McKay is passing in the first with two Bigfork Huskies surrounding her. Photo #2 has the jubilation of Bigfork on their upset win. They face neighborhood rival Chisholm on Friday in Hibbing. Chisholm beat Bigfork early in the year.

TRANSFERS AND POLITICIANS
The state senate committee said no that would let kids play right away when they transfer. From the StarTribune.
The politicians must have heard from angry constituents. They can't be totally tone deaf to what is going on. This is a problem that the MSHSL is trying to get a handle on. There are abuses. Mercenary sports, this gun for hire, is not the way to go. Politicians are working to destroy their own schools if they get in the way of the new MSHSL proposals.

SNOW JOB
Chuck Skarie is the coordinator for the tournaments in section 1 and he has been busy the last few weeks with two storms that played havoc with the schedule. From the Rochester Post Bulletin.
