ALL CITY BALLERS AAU TOURNAMENT
Robbinsdale MS
MIDTOWN lady monarchs 79,
CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI bluejackets 27
I arrived at this game late as I had earlier committments, therefore the numbers will be a little off. Apparently the game was 17-6 when I arrived.
Midtown dominated with their speed and quickness. It was their defense that slammed the door shut on Cambridge. During one stretch of the first half MLM went 12/14 in their offensive sequence on a 22-0 run. Cambridge had a 14 possession drought in the first half. It was 53-20 at half time.
Things didn't change in the second half with MLM dominating the defensive effort. They had an even longer drought in the second half with 19 possessions coming up dry. MLM didn't ring it up like in the first half on the Cambridge drought however with a 14-0 run during the stretch. Running time kicked in late.
NUMBERS EXPLAINED
player, points, possessions, pp100, floor %
Since I wasn't there for the starting line ups I will just list the players
MIDTOWN 13U D1
Tory Rule, DeLaSalle 7, 7, 100.0, .429 explosive, aggressive. tight spin move (which I don't mind like most lazy spins I see). good balance. RF: picked up a travel.
Jasmine Randle, DeLaSalle 0, 3, 0.0, .000 RF: needs to use glass on the angles.
Ona Nicks, Tartan 6, 7, 85.7, .429 post type.
Ellie Zeller, St. Anthony 15, 10, 150.0, .800 guard, good anticipation, active, uses left hand well in transition.
Chanel Dickenson, DeLaSalle 2, 2, 100.0, .500
Emily Neumann, Concordia Roseville 4, 4, 100.0, .500
Aisha Hill, Centennial 8, 8, 100.0, .500 guard, good foot work, body control. likes transition.
Alexis Foley, White Bear Lake 5, 5, 100.0, .600
Marissa Janning, Watertown-Mayer 4, 7, 57.1, .286 point guard, lefty
Diamond Lane, Tartan 2, 3, 66.7.0, .000 scored her points on an old fashioned three point play, but missed the free throw. Midtown retained possession of the ball therefore she was not charged with a possession or a score (not points) in that possession.

BY THE NUMBERS
Midtown 62, 60, 103.3, .417
Cambridge-Isanti 21, 59, 35.6, .186
made 3s: Cambridge-Isanti 1, Midtown 0
made fts: Midtown 7, Cambridge-Isanti 6
Midtown has bigger, more athletic players and they worked their system well in the first half. With the flurry of activity on the 22-0 run Midtown was 124.1 pp100 and .586 floor % for the time I saw in the first half. For a first game of the season that is pretty impressive. And for a young (13u) team to do it is even more so.
