7AAAA SEMIFINALS
CHAMPLIN PARK rebels 77, COON RAPIDS cardinals 57
Champlin Park took a measure of revenge against Coon Rapids. CR had won twice this year over CP by narrow margins of 62-60 and 62-58.
CR scored first right off the tip on a lay up by Randi Hill. CP answered and scored three straight possessions and never trailed after that. Ashlynn Fuller scored on a drive, and then later on a layup in transition after a steal by Jenny Theisen. CP went on an 18-6 run in the next 10 minutes to build a 24-8 lead. Natalie Gigler had five straight points on three possessions to open the run. CR had droughts of 8, and 5 during the run. CR was stuck on the perimeter and couldn't get any shots generated in the paint. In the first half their 3 game wasn't connecting. CP led at half 32-17.
CP built on the lead early in the second half as they connected on five straight possessions. The biggest CP lead came at 39-19. All their shots were coming in the lane off the dribble. CR did narrow the lead to 13, but CP quickly re-established themselves with a 19 point lead after a Theisen 3 48-29. CR then went on a four possession streak that resulted in three points out of each possession. It was a 12-2 run and CR trailed 50-41. Randi Hill had two 3s sandwiched around Chelsea Lyons' three. CR had an old fashioned three after a Hill steal, lay up and free throw and that cut the margin to 52-44 with 10:07 to go. At the 7:42 mark CP ran off 8 scoring possessions in a row, and 11/12 possessions. That ended any hopes of a CR comeback. The last four minutes all points were scored at the line for CP. For the half CP made 15 free throws.

TRENCH PLAYER
Michelle Burns has made great strides. she started out this year when I saw CP against Winona Cotter with 15.4 pp100 and .077 floor %. Her confidence helped give confidence to her team. I understand others had higher pp100s, and floor %. but she had the team well oiled tonight. There were many worthies tonight.
BY THE NUMBERS
Champlin Park 77, 70, 110.0, .543
Coon Rapids 57, 69, 82.6, .362
made 3s: CR 8, CP 3
made fts: CP 22, CR 13
bench: CP 23, CP 8
In the five games I have seen this year involving CP this was their best offensive performance and that is saying a lot. They have cracked the 100 pp100 three times and their lowest totals is 91 pp100. Strangely enough it was CR's best pp100 showing too at 82.61. but not in the floor %.
On defense it was also CP's best floor % of the five games at .362. and their best at pp100 at 82.61.
CP moved the ball crisply and also moved without the ball. CR was content to take the 3s. In the second half it was raining 3s for CR as they scrambled back in the game. But the 1/13 stretch with only four turnovers was the back breaker in the first half. CP did a bang up job in limiting CR to one shot most of the night. In that drought stretch CR only had one possession where they got a second chance.
A huge factor in the first half was CP's 11 points off second chance points. CR did a better job in the second half cutting off that flow with only four points.
Also if you look at the individual numbers f0r CP the starters all had strong pp100 games. Role players stepped it up like Laura Bruce.
