MINNESOTA REPORTS
March 6th, 2007 will go down as "Black Tuesday" for #1 seeds Hopkins, White Bear Lake and Centennial in AAAA action. The biggest to fall was Centennial (#2 overall in the state).
Also defending AA champion Cannon Falls fell to Minnehaha last night in the 4East finals. They join Hopkins on the sidelines as defending champs upended last night. Fulda in A and Benilde-St. Margaret's in AAA still can defend their titles.

AAAA
2: Eden Prairie upset Hopkins, twice state champion in the last three years, 61-60. I got the story in the StarTribune hard copy, but I can't find the link on the internet. But I do have sources for other information. Hopkins only cashed in at the line 5/14 times whereas EP made 14/22. Both teams used the 3 ball with EP knocking down 9, and Hopkins 7. EP takes 3s and layups/post ups and that is it.
3: from a variety of sources at the game last night: Cretin-Derham Hall exploited Park-Cottage Grove's weakness last night in a 59-30 win. PCG doesn't really have a drive game, no consistent outside shooters, and their ball handling against the full court press led to turnovers and points for CDH. CDH held PCG to only 8 at half as they led 28-8. Alyssa Karel was the difference maker once again with 22 points.
St. Paul Central was up 10-0 before Woodbury could score. Central had 52 at half time against Woodbury a team that averages 39.9 on defense for the year.
This sets up the marquee point guard match up between CDH's Alyssa Karel and SPC's Angel Robinson on Thursday. SPC won earlier in the year 78-70.
7: I reported on both of these games last night in my out & abouts: Champlin Park 77, Coon Rapids 57; and the Blaine 73-62 upset of Centennial. The StarTribune starts their roundups with these games.
