THINGS THAT PLEASE COACH TEAS
It is time again for Coach Teas to write about basketball and things that he sees and things that lead to success in basketball.

This will be a two parter with the next segment next Monday. The subject today:

THINGS I LIKE TO SEE IN A TEAM
#8: I love to see it when deep subs get into a big game and score while the rest of the team cheers wildly for them. Teams consist of role players. The role may be top scorer or the players only getting into a varsity game on rare occasions. Do not reduce subs or deep subs to somewhat less than valuable as human beings. Arrogance by players that play more often takes away energy and is hurtful.
#7: Cliques kill teams. When a team is divided by grade groups, what middle school was attended or other reasons chances are for success to go way down. It is up to seniors on a team to include all players. Good leadership is indispensable for success. Players for the most part control team unity. Include all in your successes.
#6: After a game recognize those who come to watch in some way. Thank them at school even if you do not know them well. Schools that have lots of fans do better. Players can do things to show appreciation for their support.
#5: While waiting for a preliminary game to be over sitting by yourself is fine if you are doing homework. Otherwise be with teammates. Shock one or two you are not close to by including them in your conversation. It will do nothing but build team unity.

#4-#1 will be out next Monday.

Thanks to coach Teas for the report. If you have news go to my profile and email me.

Next up: later today with the first out & abouts from the Sweet 16: Hopkins vs Crookston; Centennial vs Rogers in the first round games.
