SWEET 16
The last big event of the summer, the Minnesota Sweet 16, tips off today at 10 am at the College of St. Benedict at St. Joseph, MN. 16 teams with four per class (except AAA which only sent three) will battle down to one grand champion. All teams are high school teams. Last year Champlin Park won the event. The top finisher that is returning is Hopkins who finished third last year. Three state champs played in last year's event. Two are in this tournament this weekend. St. Paul Central and Becker are in opposite brackets and could play in the finals.

BRIDGE COLLAPSE
I have the Weekend Today show on and former Thief River Falls basketball player Nicole Kopari (class of 1999 11 ppg) was interviewed. She is a med student at the University of Minnesota and helped in the initial aftermath. Kopari was a track and field athlete for the Gophers. Kopari is also featured in the St. Paul Pioneer Press. They are the last portion of the article.

Also helping in the 35W collapse was former Gopher and Stewartville (2002 14.2 ppg) player Hannah Garry. Garry helped rescue a dozen people. From the Rochester Post Bulletin.

Thanks to the readers for the great help. If you have news go to my profile and email me.
