SWEET 16 TOURNAMENT
First Round, College of St. Benedict
CENTENNIAL cougars, ROGERS royals 30

Centennial two weeks ago beat Rogers by four. It wasn't that close on Saturday in the first round game as the Cougars went on a 70-30 rampage. Centennial's depth and talent made it hard for Rogers all day. Centennial nailed eight 3s on the day with five different players striking behind the arc. Rogers tried their best to slow the game down. They did that as there were only 53 possessions per team, the lowest total in the five tournament games I watched. It didn't slow Centennial down at all. They staged a first half blitz leading at half time 40-14. Oddly enough Centennial did not have more than three scoring possessions in a row in the first half. What they did have was seven 3 point possessions with 5 behind the arc, and two old fashioned three point plays. Rogers, on the other hand, had two six possession droughts. Centennial had runs of 10-1 and 15-2 during those sequences.

The second half things cooled off some for Centennial as they outscored Rogers 30-16. Rogers did have another deep dry spell of seven, and another of five. Another 10-0 run by Centennial occurred in the first drought, and again 10-0 in the second.

CENTENNIAL
STARTERS
Emily Becken 14, 5, 280.0, 1.000 You saw that right 280 pp100. Becken hit three 3s and also had an old fashioned three point play plus a regular old two. point guard. Confident, self assured. Aware and in system.
Kiara Allums 9, 11, 81.8, .364 athletic, leaper, on defense had three steals, but also will lunge, get out of position and pick up useless fouls. needs to stay lower on defense and not buy fakes.
Megan Nipe 11, 10, 110.0, .600 a tough nosed competitor, strong, 10-15 ft shot. good option on the out of bounds under the basket.
Megan Waytashek 6, 5, 120.0, .400 lean post type, but can handle the ball and face the basket. corner 3s attest to that.
Kayla Blom 8, 5, 160.0, .800 unheralded guard that is aware and makes good decisions. another 3 range shooter. danger is when the other team posts her up. she gets locked behind and is out sized. She needs to get her position so she is not locked up.
