SWEET 16
The Sweet 16 Tournament starts tomorrow. I will have more previews in the week that was later today.
TOURNAMENT RECAPS
Adidas Battle on the Plains 2007 (Lincoln, NE)
This tournament featured 36 girls teams from 11 states July 21st- 23rd. They were split up into three 12 team tournaments: Elite, Select and Open divisions. The elite consisted of the “top teams” 11 17/16U teams and the NE Judds CSS 15U team.
All games were played at the new Bison Youth Sports Complex (4 courts), and the tournament was attended by 48 college coaches including 29 D1 coaches.
In the Elite Division the NE Bison CSS team captured the title with a 52-50 last second win over rival All Iowa Attack. MN Stars Borowicz came in 3rd defeating the Kansas Dream Team. The Consolation Championship went to the NE Judds CSS 15U, other top finishes were Iowa Elite, Indiana Elite, and SD Lightning.
The select division was one by the Iowa Lady Cats, who defeated the Kansas Hoopsters in the Finals. The open division was won by All Iowa Attack 14’s, who bounced back from an early loss to the Cornhusker Shooting Stars 14’s to defeat All Iowa Attacks 15’s Regional team in the finals.
Next years dates will be announced in early September.
SOUTHERN MINNE MAGIC WHITE
The 16U Southern Minne Magic White basketball team finished it's AAU season with an appearance at the Miss Basketball Showcase in Kearney, NE. Leading the Magic were Mankato West's Abby Rothenbuehler and Katie Lauer, who each averaged 8.4 points per game. Lauer also made the 2007 Top Individual Performance List for most free throws made by an individual in the tournament, converting 19 in 5 games. From the Mankato Free Press.
SUMMER LEAGUE REVIEW
Hibbing won the Mesabi Range Summer League recently. They never allowed more than 29 points in any game. Here are the scores:

COACHING NEWS
The state runner up and Section 6AAAA Champion Mpls. South High Girls basketball program is looking for an assistant coach.
