Briar Cliff has added two more signees:
Cat Nelson, Sioux City North (06 grad). Nelson attended Dixie State College (NCAA DII) 1st semester this year and will be a Sophomore next year.

Minnesota opens up against Northwestern in the Big 10 tournament in Indianapolis. MN is sitting on the bubble and needs solid wins this week to get to the NCAAs. From the StarTribune. and Pioneer Press. The MN Daily breaks down each team.

Ohio zapped Akron in overtime 77-68. Jordan's Mandy Holzer had 2 for Akron.

Eastern Michigan downed Central Michigan 57-50. Lansing Everett's Patrice McKinney had 18 for EMU. Lansing Sexton's Sharonda Hurd had 14 for CMU.

Toledo beat Western Michigan 74-66. Detroit Country Day's Carrie Moore had 29 for WMU.

Ball State beat Northern Illinois 81-70. Holy Angels' Kristin Wiener had 18 for NIU.

MISSOURI VALLEY
Evansville beat Wichita State 77-68. Mpls North's Daria Frazier had 9 for WSU.

SUN BELT
Denver beat Florida Atlantic 65-41 in the opening round of the Sun Belt tournament. Breck's Megan Givens had 3, Bloomington Kennedy's Ashly Robinson did not score for Denver.

NORTH CENTRAL
#6 UN Omaha shocked #2 Augustana 64-61. Durango's Karen Thies had 20 for UNO, North St. Paul's Cayla Hargrove added 10. Willmar's Alison Adamson had 16 for Augustana.

#4 UM Duluth edged St. Cloud State 83-79. SCSU was down by 18 at half, but their rally fell just a tad short. From the St. Cloud Times. Morris' Katie Winkelman had 27 for UMD. Duluth East's Erika Quigley had 35 for SCSU.

#3 South Dakota rallied from a halftime deficit to beat MSU Mankato 68-60. Hinton IA's Bridget Yoerger had 19 for USD. Albany's Joanne Noreen had 27 for MSU Mankato. Also more from the Yankton Press & Dakotan.

NORTHERN SUN
#1 Concordia St. Paul beat SW MN State 68-56. With the win CSP will now host the final four teams in the NSIC tournament. In the game last night St. Croix Lutheran's Amanda Behnke went over 1000 points for her career for CSP. She had 18 for the night.

#4 Wayne State beat Winona State 77-70. Grant, Nebraska's Erin McCormick had 24 for Wayne State. Chicago Lane Tech's Jamie Majerowicz had 30 for Winona State.

#3 Northern State ended Bemidji State's season 72-56. Lewiston-Altura's Noelle Hall had 28 for NSU. Spencer, IA's Amy Lawson led BSU with 11. Plus more coverage in the Aberdeen American News.

#2 MSU Moorhead got back on the winning track with a 75-68 victory over Upper Iowa. BOLD'S Jessica Fesenmaier had 26 for MSU Moorhead. St. Charles' Paige Devine and Waukon's Christa Hammel each had 16 for UIU.

IOWA
Luther's Blair Ernst has been named MVP in the Iowa Conference. Ernst played her HS ball at Cedar Rapids Washington. Ernst averaged 13.7 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Norse, who won their seventh league title.
Luther's Jane Hildebrand, was named coach of the year.

Luther is headed to the NCAA D3 tournament for the first time after their win over Loras on Saturday. From the Luther Chips..the student newspaper.

NAIA
Deb Remmerde, Northwestern IA is the player of the year in the Great Plains conference. Story from the Sioux City Journal.

Melanie Vedvei, SD Mines is player of the year in the Dakota Athletic conference. Some MN players also took home honors. Kendra Meyer (Prior Lake) Minot State made first team; Dakota State's Jessica Van Loy (Wabasso) and Laura Tewes (Mayer Luther), plus Mayville State's Michelle Halvorson (Red Lake County Central) were named to the second team. Valley City State's Jessica Tykwinski (Lincoln HI) was named freshman of the year.

JUCO
Itasca finished 5th in the MN state tournament last week, but may be headed to nationals. They need to win a game on Friday for the 13B title. From the Grand Rapid Herald Review.

Two Minnesota West Lady Jays were honored with two First -Team All-State and All-MCCC Southern Division awards. Freshmen Jacinta Boever (Worthington) averaged 13.9 ppg and Staci Bush (Hills-Beaver Creek) averaged 11 ppg for Mn West who finished in 3rd place in the State tournament.
