Boomerang, Rumblings, Late Paraders

BOOMERANG
MN
Takiyah Stewart is back at Mpls North. She had left for St. Louis Park, but is now in uniform and playing for the Polars. Another new additon for North is Jessica Ray. Last year she played at Osseo.
Friday night they trailed the transfer enhanced Roosevelt Teddies by four when the Polars missed a lay up. Then, in the aftermath, they received a technical. Roosevelt padded it's lead and spent most of the rest of the night making free throws in a 76-62 win.

RUMBLINGS
MN
Most of the coaches I have spoken with have stated they are concerned about the upsurge in transfers. No one is happy about it, but not much will be done about it either. The State High School league is not going to get into the business of checking address. The school administrators also will not be checking things out. Coaches generally are not going to throw back a player that lands on their door step. Parents are always looking for an angle for their WNBA prospect. Some kids want to be with their friends.

Other states have rules where a player that transfers has to sit out from six months to a year. The chances of that happening in MN are "a snow flake's chance in a blast furnace."

The result will be more grumblings, and rumblings, lack of support for local institutions, and decline in civic loyalty. And general frustration when parents and players find out the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence and all that glitters is not gold. There are consequences for actions. Things will catch up and there will be a price that will be paid.
