Des Moines East lost to Johnston 45-42. Tia Mays of East hit a three to tie the game at 42, but the in the celebration players from the East bench ran on to the floor, the result was a technical. Johnston's Libbie Reichling then made both shots, and Abby Morris added one more on the throw in for the final margin.
West Des Moines Valley beat #2 Dowling 48-41. It was Valley's first win against their crosstown rival since 1995.
